OCEM Airfield Technology has begun providing airfield lighting equipment to Cameroon’s busiest airport, Douala International, as part of a major modernization effort at the airport serving the country’s largest city.
Starting in January and picking up again this month, OCEM has been installing elevated and inset lights and illuminated signs on the airport taxiway.
The aiport modernization effort also includes renovations on the runway, apron and passenger terminal. The airport offers direct flights to Europe and throughout Africa, with access to Brussels, Paris, Istanbul and more.
Douala is the largest city in Cameroon and boasts both the country’s busiest airport and the region’s largest port. In 2014, OCEM provided airport lighting and control systems in at Yaoundé Aiport, which serves the country’s capital city.
Air transport in Africa is expected to grow by 5 percent annually, with air traffic projected to double by 2030. OCEM looks forward to helping the continent’s airports accommodate these additional flights.
