OCEM Airfield Technology has made additional gains in India, expanding into the northeastern region after successfully entering the country’s airfield ground lighting market last year.
The Italian company is supplying AGL fixtures to the Airports Authority of India for three airports in the country’s isolated northeast region: Imphal International Airport, Lilabari Airport and Dimapur Airport.
Imphal in particular plays an important role linking northeastern India with major cities such as Delhi, Bangalore and Kolkata. The airport also operates international flights to Myanmar.
The new project follows OCEM’s breakthrough into the Indian AGL market in August 2015, when the Italian company supplied lighting signals for airports in Lucknow and Amritsar, in the northern and central parts of the country.
The project included taxiway and runway lights for Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, in Lucknow, and Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport, in Amritsar.
India represents the world’s fastest-growing domestic air travel market, with annual growth exceeding 27 percent last year, the International Air Transport Association announced in July.
With its branch in New Delhi and a strong track record of success over the past two years, OCEM is the perfect partner to help airports safely meet growing demand on the Indian sub-continent.
