OCEM project's for Diori Hamani International Airport
OCEM has received a new turnkey contract for the delivery of a new Airfield Ground Lighting Control System (ALCMS), LED Lighting and Signs for Diori Hamani International Airport managed by ASECNA. The contract was awarded to OCEM by SUMMA, a leading Turkish contractor.
This new contract – which includes design, installation and commissioning of all AGL equipment – confirms OCEM’s leading position when it comes to the supply of Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) solutions on the continent. As part of the contract OCEM will perform the training of the ASECNA airport staff to guarantee continued maintenance once completion of the works has been done.
Diori Hamani International Airport (IATA: NIM) is the main airport in Niamey, the capital of Niger. It is located 9 km from Niamey, along the Route Nationale 1, the highway linking Niamey with the east of the nation. The airport is the main civil airport but is also home to the armed forces of Niger. The airfield ground lighting consists of OCEM’s latest generation AGL LED which will help the airport enjoy the full benefits from OCEM’s low energy consuming solutions. The airport assures the connectivity of Niger with key destinations in both Africa and Europe.
Important to note is that ASECNA (which operates the ATC in Niamey) operates the “African School for Meteorology and Civil Aviation or Ecole Africaine de la Météorologie et de l’Aviation Civile” at the Niamey airport complex. Founded in 1963, EAMAC trains civil aviation professionals and aviation meteorologists from across Africa (source: Wikipedia).
